Exercising Teenage

 

Yes, we know that you guys want that much desired 6 pack and that tiny little waist that every leading actress flaunts. It is called the “I want to be that actor syndrome.” Apparently, this is common among almost all the teenagers around the world. However, the most curious irony is that they find themselves hard to fit in fitness. Just getting through a day of school as if it wasn’t enough, to add on to it are the after-school commitments and to further exacerbate the issue, there comes the syndrome.

What we don’t really get is that fitness is not about superficial looks and flaunting that perfect physique. It runs much deeper than that. It is a sense of well being and good health which can only be attained with quality exercises. This does not mean hitting the gym and lifting heavy weights or making yourself sweat profusely just to make a point.

So what should we do?

The very first thing you need to do is set a goal for yourself, which is challenging yet achievable, then take out up to 60 minutes a day to achieve it and voila!

Well not exactly “voila,” but it’s a start. You can start with the most basic forms of exercises at home and stay fit and healthy.

Don’t Just Stand There

Burn some of those extra calories while waiting for the school bus to arrive. Rock or sway or walk or jog little distance move from a pole to another, or just pace. Any motion that burns calories is a form of exercise. You could always use your backpack as a weight to add resistance.

Walk The Walk

Why do you need to drive to school? Walk to school as often as you can or just pick a parking spot that is a little bit farther from where you usually park.

Sly Stomach

Stealth train your stomach and strengthen it too while walking through the hallways at school. Get a core muscle work on the sly by pulling your belly in, keeping your shoulders back, and breathing in and out deeply. You’ll look good too.

Stretch

Vacuum, clean the house, help your mom with the groceries, organize your closet, help your dad with washing the car, or mow the grass or clean the garage. Yeah, do them for yourself and burn calories.

Make It Sweat

Give those wretched video games a break. Add more lively activities to your routine like dance, a rock band as a hobby maybe, skateboarding, or any other sport that makes you sweat and play harder.

Your body cannot process all these in the amount we typically drink them in an attempt to stay hydrated. Take small sips on your water bottle when working out and not big gulps. The same way a fighter drink while between rounds. They drink to stay hydrated but only small sips. It's a simple to follow method. And don't cheat either by taking small but numerous sips because you will just be cheating yourself, robbing your body of the progress it should be making.

Do Not Eat Large Pre-WorkoutMeals

Now this is something that a lot of my gym buddies do not realizing that they are contributing to their own bloated post-workout feel. They are actually the one to blame. Many guys
tend to eat a lot pre-workout to prepareť their bodies for the hard work ahead and make sure they have the fuel to go hard. Now, I am not saying that we should workout with an empty stomach but I don't think downing a Big Mac and large fries pre-workout is a good way to go. If you eat immediately before a workout session, even high protein meal, it can result to excessive gas build up during your workout and make you feel bloated afterwards.

Get Enough Sodium

Your body needs sodium to regulate water usage. Now I mean this in moderation and not to be taken literally. Going overboard will obviously have some negative consequences for you so make sure that you do not lick off salt pre-workout. It's a gym session, not a tequila shot.

Proper Breathing

Proper breathing is also important to avoid getting bloated. Simple things like breathing in through the nose and not the mouth because you might swallow some of it and end up in the intestinal tract and make your feel bloated and quite gassy. Also, proper breathing helps in maintaining proper posture which in turn helps in the body's digestion. Proper digestion minimizes, if not completely eliminates that bloated feel and allows the body to efficiently use the nutrients that you take in. Proper breathing also improves your performance hence makes the body burn more which lessens the possibility of you being bloated even more. So breathe in through the nose then breathe out through the mouth.

Cardio

Cardio is an integral part of any workout plan because it has a lot of great advantages. For the majority of people who go to the gym, the goal is not look like the Hulk. We want to simply look great and feel great. Cardio is an effective exercise to melt the excess fat in your body so that your muscles look more defined and your body looks more attractive. Therefore just lifting weights isn't sufficient but then again, sticking to your treadmill only isn't going to benefit your either.

To see ourselves in the mirror and be happy with what we see and you will not get that without cardio. Here are a few things that cardio can bring home for us.

Improved CirculationThe conscious practise of the"flow state" also known as "the Zone"

Cardio improves the circulation by improving the health of our hearts. The heart is also a muscle that has to be worked to get better and nothing works out the heart better than cardio. Along with improved circulation comes other benefit like lowering blood pressure which is a great concern for a large part of our population. A strong heart enables us to do more things because the oxygen in the blood travels better and therefore gets to our muscles more efficiently and makes it stronger. So simply put, a strong heart equals a strong you.

Increased Lung Capacity

This goes hand in hand with the first mentioned benefit. With increased capacity of the lungs, we can push ourselves further and faster. This is of great importance for people who wants to be able to do more in their days. A stronger lung enables us to not get winded easily and therefore get more things done. The increase in our lungs capacity will then increase our oxygen intake and therefore increases the oxygen being distributed to the body and that makes our muscles stronger and healthier. It's all connected to each other and it all begins with cardio.

Increased Endurance

Endurance has long been linked to athletics and rightfully so. But that does not mean that just because you do not run the 1000 meter relay in the Olympics, you don't have to do cardio in the gym. Increased endurance allows your muscles to perform better longer. Everyday life consists of routines, doing things in a cycle over and over again. Building a body that is suited for endurance is a great advantage since you can cope up with everyday routines better. Increased endurance allows you to do things better on a regular basis and that's another advantage you get from doing cardio.

Increased Metabolism

Now this is not something that is known by many people but cardio actually improves our metabolism.  Metabolism is simply the rate in which the body's various processes are done. An increase in metabolism will greatly increase the rate in which your body consumes energy. Fat is stored energy so the faster your metabolism, the faster you shed those love handles and the better you look. Increased metabolism is linked more to fat loss than weight loss. Losing weight does not always mean a healthier body but losing fat and an increase in muscle tissue might look the same in the weighing scale but a lot different in front of the mirror.

Improved Recovery

Low-paced cardio decreases some of the by-products produced while on a heavy lifting session. Your muscles can create chemicals that catabolize your muscles. Without doing proper cardio, you might be losing the muscles that you have worked so hard to get without you even knowing it.
