Foods that contain quercetin

Quercetin is a plant-based flavonoid. It is responsible for the rich colors of different flowers, vegetables and fruits. It is a powerful antihistamine and antioxidant. It can help you by reducing inflammation and reducing the levels of histamine present in your body.

Foods that contain high levels of quercetin are- apples, cherries, blueberries, broccoli, spinach, kale etc.

Foods that contain probiotics

There are some probiotic foods which are very much helpful for you if you are suffering from eczema. For example, yogurt contains live cultures which will improve your immune system. There are also helpful in reduction of flare-ups or allergic reactions. Some of the most common probiotic-rich foods are-sourdough bread, miso soup, naturally fermented pickles, kefir, tempeh, unpasteurized sauerkraut, soft cheese etc.

Foods that you should avoid

When you are suffering from eczema, you need to avoid certain foods. Even though they may not directly cause eczema, they may trigger an increase in symptoms of this problem. It is especially true for you if you consume a food that you are allergic to. Some of the most common food allergies include dairy products, soy, eggs, nuts etc.

You need to avoid foods that contain preservatives and artificial ingredients because they can increase the symptoms. So, avoid foods that contain high amounts of trans fat like processed foods, margarine and fast food. You also need to avoid foods that have high levels of sugar because they may also trigger flare-ups. When you consume highly sugary foods, they can increase your insulin levels which in turn can result in inflammation.

The most common foods that are high in sugar are cakes, coffee drinks, sodas, fast food items like burgers, smoothies etc.

There are different diets available for eczema which you can follow. You need to focus on a diet which is high in antioxidants because they will help you to reduce symptoms. Some people follow a Mediterranean diet, some others may follow an anti-inflammatory diet and some others may follow some other diets.
