Sweating is good but excessive sweating can be very awkward and irritating. If you are sweating in the gym after a good workout, that is completely fine but if you are sweating several times more than normal, then it's a problem for you and you should do something to rectify this problem.
Avoid caffeine and spicy foods
Your taste buds becomes happy when you drink a strong coffee or eat a burrito doused in hot sauce but they were will also stimulate your sweat glands. Spices and caffeine can activate neurotransmitters which are known as acetylcholine. These neurotransmitters are located in your brain. And because of stimulation of these neurotransmitters, the glands causing sweating are affected. As a result of that, you will sweat more and will probably smell awful.
Think about all sweat glands
Most of the time, when trying to manage perspiration or sweat, we think about the armpits only, but there are 2 to 4 million sweat glands all over your body, which are necessary to work as your body's coolant system to protect it from overheating. These sweat glands are present on your hands, feet, face, back, chest and the groin area. So, instead of focusing only on the armpits, you should also think about the sweat glands present in different areas of your body. You will need to spray antiperspirants on those areas as well so that you can keep dry. However, do not spray antiperspirants or any other spray on sensitive areas like your face or private parts.
Use antiperspirant in the afternoon
There are some time during the day when sweat production is more. Sweat production is lowest at night and so when you use antiperspirants in the afternoon, there is a better chance that it will go into your pores and block perspiration in the morning. Even though you wash it off in the morning, you don't have to worry about it because by the time you wash it off, the active ingredients will have penetrated your sweat ducts and done the work. Use a good antiperspirant so that you get better results and don't have to worry about any type of side effects on your skin.
Reduce anxiety and stress
You can also use medicines to help you in case of situations which make you sweat more. Outdoor temperature and a good workout will definitely make you sweat more but there are some other factors which may also make you sweat more. If you are anxious or stressed then also you tend to sweat more. Anything that will decrease your anxiety and stress will help you in reducing the sweating. Deep breathing and other relaxation techniques will also help you to reduce sweating by decreasing the stress and anxiety. If you sweat more in a stressful situation, you can talk to your doctor and get them oral medications prescribed which will help you to reduce sweating in those situations.
Use extra strength antiperspirants
When you are using antiperspirants, go for the extra strength. Clinical strength antiperspirants are more effective and so they will help you more in stopping sweat. They are more effective because they have higher concentration of active ingredients. You don't have to worry about where to find such clinical strength formulas because most of your favourite brands like Dove or Secret has it. You will find such antiperspirants at the drugstore and can get them without a prescription.
