Eat a snack at 3
Why is it necessary to eat a snack exactly at 3? 3 pm is considered as the weak spot for most people. At this time most of them feel hungry and so they grab something that they can lay their hands on. It may be a chocolate, a pack of chips or anything else. If you are not careful with the food you are eating at this moment, it can increase your insulin and blood sugar levels immediately and then drop it shortly. When that happens, you will feel tired and lethargic. You'll also feel hungrier.
Some other people are very busy during this time and they don't eat anything until dinner. That is another problem. If there is a huge gap between your lunch and dinner, your metabolism will slow down. As a result, blood sugar levels will also go down.
The best thing that you can eat as a snack at this point of time is lean protein and whole-grain carbohydrates. Turkey, knots, piece of cheese are some of the good options for you. They will help you to keep your blood sugar level stable.
Reduce sugar intake
To get a flat belly, you will need to watch your sugar consumption. Specially watch out for the hidden sugar which is present in different types of foods. Chocolate bars, and cookies are some of the most common and hardest to stay away from foods that contain high levels of sugar. Even sugar is hidden in healthy foods to. Healthy foods like yoghurts, sauces, frozen foods, health bars and dressings may also contain high levels of sugar. Sugar is bad for you because it adds empty calories to your body. When insulin increases fat storage in your body and you keep continuing consumption of more sugar, it will be very difficult to lose belly fat. When you cannot lose belly fat, how can you expect to have a flat belly?
Chew slowly
When you are eating, don't be in a hurry and do not swallow foods without chewing. When you eat fast, you can swallow air and it may result in bloating and poor digestion. When you eat slowly, you not only enjoy the food but you also avoid such possibilities. When you are eating something, focus on the food instead of any other distractions. Chew your food properly before swallowing it. If you put down your fork or spoon after a mouthful and only pick it up when you have completely chewed and swallowed the previous portion, then there will be less possibility of bloating and poor digestion.
Reduce salt intake
If you want a flat belly, you will need to reduce the amount of salt you are consuming. When you eat foods with high level of salt, you may have a bloated and puffy stomach. It's very difficult to find out if the food has salt unless it tastes salty. Many food items contain hidden sodium to improve the taste. Such foods include crackers, pre-packaged soups, sauces, dressings etc. To flavour your foods, you can use herbs and spices instead of salt.
Drink green tea
When you are trying to achieve a flat stomach, green tea can help you. It contains an antioxidant known as EGCG. It will help you to boost your metabolism. As a result, you will be able to use the fat present in your body to get energy. If you drink 2 to 3 cups of green tea every day, that will help you to lose the extra fat, especially in the belly area. If you like you can make iced tea with green tea.
