Suffering From Chronic Pain? Try These 3 Remedies

If you’re experiencing chronic pain, you aren’t alone. It’s an all-too-common ailment among adults which is usually defined as pain that lasts longer than three months and doesn’t respond to treatment. It can be frustrating, exhausting and, of course, painful to deal with, especially if the doctor’s orders aren’t working for you. It gets even worse when you know the original source of the pain has gone, but your body is still sending pain messages to your brain, making it even more difficult to diagnose and treat. Â 

When your pain flares up, it may be an automatic reaction to reach for the painkillers. Over-the-counter medicines or prescription painkillers might work, but they also come with a number of side effects that you may not want to have to deal with. Some side effects could even be seriously harmful, like developing a physical dependence and addiction to the painkillers. While the risk of side effects may be worth it to some, others may look for alternative natural remedies to help defeat the pain. Natural treatments can also work in tandem with medication if you’re finding the medicine isn’t helping enough.

Whatever your motivation behind seeking out natural treatments for pain relief, here are a few you can try. 

1. CBD oil

Cannabidiol, also known as CBD, is a chemical compound found in the cannabis plant. While it doesn’t have the psychoactive ingredient to give you that famous marijuana high, it does have a number of healing properties that the medical community is starting to seriously take notice of. It’s a completely naturally occurring compound that is extracted from the plant to create a raw oil. CBD has effective anti-inflammatory properties that help with pain from sciatica, multiple sclerosis, migraines, and arthritis and other joint pain.

  • Always dilute the essential oil with a carrier oil when using topically to avoid irritation, redness or burning.

3. Yoga

Good old fashioned exercise is another natural way to help relieve some pain, and yoga is one of the top ways to do it. Whether you’re an absolute beginner or have more experience, there’s a class out there for you that can help stretch and strengthen the parts of your body that are in pain. Those who exercise fairly regularly (think at least three times a week for about 30 minutes each time) and maintain a good aerobic condition will see some pain relief, plus coupled with the benefits of yoga and the body’s own endorphins to help increase your pain threshold, you’ll see how effective it can be after a short period of time.
