What is it?

High blood pressure or hypertension is a situation where your blood pressure increases to unhealthy levels. The blood pressure is measured by taking into account how much blood is passing through your blood vessels and the resistance it is facing when the heart is pumping. You cannot wait for the symptoms to appear because that can be fatal for you if you do not do anything and just keep waiting for the symptoms to show up. The symptoms may or may not appear for a long duration and when they appear, it may be too late for to do anything at all.

The best way to detect this problem early will be to get your blood pressure checked regularly and keep the readings. You can easily get the blood-pressure reading done at a pharmacy, hospital or doctor's gender.

If you go for a yearly health checkup, it is important to talk to your doctor about the possibility of hypertension in your case. Your doctor may be able to advise you better by checking your blood pressure readings and any previous family history. If you have a family history of heart disease, the risk of developing this condition may increase in your case. In that condition, your doctor may ask you to check your blood pressure at regular intervals to find out any anomaly. Then it becomes easier for you and your doctor to handle any possible issues before it becomes problematic.
