1. Eat for good vision

The foods you eat can help you to protect your eyes. You need nutrients like omega-3 fatty acids, zinc, lutein and vitamins like vitamins C and E for your eyes. They help you to protect your eyes from different age-related problems that can affect your vision, including macular degeneration and cataracts. If you regularly eat the foods with the necessary nutrients, your eyes will be in good health.

You need to eat lots of green leafy vegetables like spinach, collards and kale. Also include Salman, Tuna and other fishes in your diet, which will offer you omega-3 fatty acids. You also should eat eggs, beans, nuts and other protein sources. For vitamin C and E, you need to eat oranges and other citrus fruits and juices.

You also need to balance your foods. A well-balanced diet will help you to stay healthy and keep weight in check so as to get rid of the obesity related problems including diabetes. Diabetes is a major cause of blindness and keeping it at bay is very important for the health of your eyes.

2. Quit smoking

Smoking is a very dangerous enemy of you because it may result in several eye related problems. It may cause cataracts, damage of the optic nerve and macular degeneration. If smoking is the possible reason so many different eye problems, then it is a wise choice to stop smoking today.

3. Use sunglasses

Whenever you go out or exposed to the sun, use the right kind of UV protection sunglasses. Sunglasses are useful as they can block the harmful UV rays from reaching your eyes. Such rays can cause different medical conditions. Using a simple sunglass that can block the UV rays will help you to get rid of several eye problems. It will help you to protect yourself from cataracts and macular degeneration. Choose the right sunglass that is capable of blocking 99% to 100% UVA and UVB rays. Even if you wear contact lenses, it is a good idea to use sunglasses to save your eyes from damage caused by the sun rays.

4. Don't stare at the computer screen

This one is difficult. Computers have become an integral part of today's life. Is it is not possible to avoid computers. But you can reduce the possible damage by applying some few basic rules. Computer screens can cause

You can take a few steps to protect your eyes from the possible damage caused by long staring at the computer screen.

You can use special glasses while using the computer to protect yourself from the contrast, eyestrain and glare of the computer screen.
Ensured that the position of the computer screen is at your eye level. The top of the computer screen should be at the level of your eye.
If necessary, use an anti-glare screen.

If you feel that your eyes are dry, blink more to keep it moistened.

After every 20 minutes, you should rest your eyes. Look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds. You can also get up from your chair after every two hours and take a break for 15 minutes.

5. Visit your doctor regularly
