If you want to get fit and ripped after 40, it is very important for you to decide your goal and then fix your mind on that. You have to tell yourself that once you start doing it you will not back out for any reason. If you are sure that you are going to work towards that goal, you will need to set the amount of time aside for working out, follow the exact diet and discipline yourself to do and follow whatever is necessary. You just cannot give it up after some time. If you are dehydrated, however hard you work out, you will not be able to achieve the fitness and health that you want to achieve. You will need at least 3 to 4 bottles of water every day. You also need to drink when you workout.

First, calculate the calorie intake necessary for you and then divide it into three equal parts. Junk foods do not make a proper meal and you should avoid them as much as possible. Eating more fruits and vegetables is very important and so you should include more of them in your diet.

Pump iron

Pumping some iron will definitely help you to get more muscle and fitness. It will also help you to define your body and get ripped. If you are very new to weightlifting and strength training, you can always keep it light. You should work different muscle groups on separate days. Some of the important exercises that you should include in your workouts are squats, standing calf raises, lunges, situps, push-ups and pullups etc. pumping iron is very important if you want to build more muscle and give the definition to different parts of your body, especially the belly portion.

Cardio is important

Cardio is important for fitness and it will also help you to get ripped. Running is one type of cardio exercise that you can include in your workout but if you don’t like it, martial arts, rock climbing and swimming will do the task for cardio. Jumping jacks, jumping rope or even dancing will also help you to keep yourself fit and healthy.

Take the necessary rest

It is important for you to rest your body for the required amount of time. Resting will help you to heal yourself. Muscle growth, body definition etc. will happen when you allow your body and different parts to rest well. Without the proper rest, simply working out too much will not help you and will negatively impact your journey towards a fit and ripped body.
