In the process foods that you eat every day, there may be many toxic ingredients present. You should be careful about those ingredients because they are toxic and so they are harmful for your body.

Palm oil

Palm oil is added because it can keep packaged foods stay fresh. If Palm oil is blasted with hydrogen and turned into a solid, it becomes a trans fat. Since it can keep the packaged food look fresh for a longer duration, such products can be sitting in the supermarket shelf for years. If you eat such foods, it will increase your trans fat in the body which will increase bad LDL cholesterol and triglycerides besides lowering your good HDL. It has another adverse effect on your body – higher risk of blood clotting and heart attack. Avoid such foods that contain palm oil and also avoid fried foods because they are generally fried in palm oil.

High fructose corn syrup

High fructose corn syrup (HFCS) can be called the evil king of oil refined grains. We are consuming high amounts of high fructose corn syrup every day. It increases triglycerides in your body, increases fat storing hormone and makes people overeat as a result of which they gain weight. This is a sweet poison and you should always keep away from it.

Shortening

You should avoid any food that has shortening or partially hydrogenated oils as an ingredient. They are evil trans fats. They will not only clog your arteries, but they will also cause obesity. They will result in metabolic  syndromes. Instead of them, you can always choose healthy monounsaturated fats like olive, peanut or canola oils. You can consume foods that contain unsaturated omega-3 fatty acids.

Artificial sweeteners

It is very important that you avoid artificial sweeteners because they are very bad for your body. Aspartame, saccharin and sucralose are some of the common artificial sweeteners available in the market. Even though they are labeled as diet friendly sweeteners, they’re very bad for your metabolic systems. It plays a trick on your mind and makes you forget that sweetness means extra calories and as a result you consume more sweets.

Butylated Hydroxyanisole (BHA)

BHA is very dangerous for you because it is a possible cause of cancer. It’s a preservative used for increasing the shelflife of different foods. It can result in endocrine disruption. It can mess with your hormones. BHA is present in different types of foods and it is also available in cosmetics and food packaging. Instead of looking for all things that contain BHA, you can simply eliminate processed foods from your diet.

MSG

Monosodium glutamate is known as a flavour enhancer. It is naturally present in meat and cheese but the processed food industry uses hydrolysis to separate them from the host proteins. If you consume foods with high levels of MSG, then it may seriously damage your brain chemistry. It is always safer for you to flavour your food naturally instead of looking for artificial flavours.

Colours

Blue, green, red and yellow artificial colours can be dangerous for you. Blue 1 and 2, green 3, red 3 and yellow 6 colours are linked with different human problems like thyroid, kidney, bladder, adrenal and brain cancers. Whether you are buying something for the kids for yourself, it is always possible to avoid artificial colours and go for natural food products.
