Pearly penile papules (PPP) are small growths on the penis. If you see some small tiny growths on your penis, then it may be Pearly penile papules. However, many people make mistakes by confusing it with genital warts. These are small, benign growths seen on the penis. There are pink, yellow or white in color. In some rare cases, they may be translucent. They are generally very small. The size ranges from 1 to 2 mm wide by 1 to 4 mm long. According to some studies, uncircumcised people are more likely to have this problem in comparison to circumcised individuals.

Is it contagious?

PPP are not contagious. If you get in touch with someone who has it, even then you will not get it from them. You also cannot infect anyone else, even through sexual contact.

PPP and genital warts

PPP are not similar to genital warts. Genital warts results from HPV and increases sexually transmitted disease. They look smaller than PPP and they are cauliflower shaped growths. Genital warts may also seen in anus, groin, thighs, penis, lips, scrotum, mouth, throat, tongue. Genital warts contagious whereas PPP are not.

If you doubt that you have PPP, you should go and see your doctor. If you feel any lumps or bums on the genital region, you should go and consult your doctor to make sure that you are not suffering from the disease. It is better to go to your doctor and find out about the problem early so as to take the prevention methods and take up treatment options to get rid of the problem.

Treatment

Doctors often like to leave PPP alone. It doesn’t carry any risk to you and it is not infectious. You should not pick at them. Do not pop the papules. Also, do not use any over-the-counter wart removing medicines. Since the problem is in your penis, you should be more careful while using different medicines because they may cause other issues. Medicines may also cause long-lasting fertility another sexual problems and so it is very important that you are careful while using anything on those papules and your penis. If you are very much worried, talk to your doctor and find out everything you need to know about these papules.

If you have PPP, even then you don’t have to worry about anything. Since these are not infectious and they do not harm or in any way, there is nothing to worry about. These are harmless skin growths. If you’re concerned at the starting, that’s very normal. Try to find out as much as you can about PPP and the things you should not do. Follow them and you don’t have to worry about anything.
