Sleep is very crucial for your body, your physical health, mental health and spiritual health. It affects different parts of your body starting from head to toe.

You need deep sleep and relaxation to keep your heart healthy. If you always skip necessary rest, it can have detrimental effects on your heart. When it happens your body’s tissues will be prepared to take immediate action and your heart will start working harder. If you are sleep deprived, you are more likely to develop hyperlipidemia or high cholesterol and that can result in heart attack or stroke.

Healthy weight

Proper sleep will also ensure that you have a healthy weight. When you are sleep deprived you are more likely to consume more calories. When you consume more calories, it can lead to weight gain. When you’re not getting enough sleep, it can disrupt your body’s balance between ghrelin and leptin. These two hormones other responsible hormones for stimulating and suppressing appetite respectively. When you do not get enough sleep, it can increase your appetite by increasing the hormone responsible for stimulating your appetite. So, you should always try to get a full night’s sleep every night and if for some reason you do not get the necessary sleep, you will have to watch out for what you are eating that day.
