How can makeup
affect your skin
I can't think of a woman who doesn't like makeup. From everyday meetings to weddings and parties, we all love to apply makeup for one obvious reason; we want to look prettier and presentable. However, while we're doing this, we need to keep one thing in mind; this makeup CAN have some adverse effects on our skin.
Now, I am not trying to scare you away. I am here just to tell you how makeup can affect your skin and how you can take care of that. So, Read on!
Effects of MakeUp:
There are very rare chances that you get any severe kind of acne or any other skin disease from makeup unless you're using cheap quality products or you're not using them right. When it comes down to make up, I think NO compromise should be made on the quality. Your face is the most sensitive part of your body. Applying cheap quality products on your skin is the worst thing that you can do to yourself.
Another factor is using the wrong kind of product on your skin. We know that you're in love with the new Garnier Roll On but you need to be careful while applying it because it may not be according to your skin type. People with sensitive skin need to take extra care here. You should make a list of all those things that you are allergic to. Any make up product that has those ingredients must be avoided at all cost. If you don't do this, there are chances that you would get a strong allergic reaction.
I am not allergic to anything, but still I have developed acne!… There are many of us who have this complaint. This happens when certain oils in your cosmetics collect in and clog the pores. This causes very strong acne, known as acne cosmetica. In this kind of acne, a person develops reddened bumps on the forehead, cheeks and chin. Dermatologists believe that thick liquid and cream products are the ones that cause this kind of acne. Lighter products like powders are less likely to cause this acne.
Prevention:
So, what to do now? The steps are pretty easy and most of us know about them. First of all, ALWAYS choose good quality products. Do NOT compromise on this at any cost. Secondly, you need to know your skin type, your allergies and then the ingredients that are present in your cosmetics. Thirdly, you need to wash that makeup off very carefully. Use a good quality cream or lotion to wipe that makeup off. Then, wash your face with a face wash or a scrub. You can cleanse it too if you want. In the end, apply a good quality moisturizer. While choosing makeup products make sure you go for fragrance and oil free products as these ingredients irritate the skin the most. NEVER go to bed with makeup on. Always wash it before going to sleep. Lastly, do not wear makeup for too long. Seven to eight hours are more than enough, after that, wash your makeup off.
