This is a good summary of this disease. Most importantly, get diagnosed early and get treated. This is a very treatable disease.

My daughter also has WD. We are both stable with our WD and have daily maintenance with OTC Zinc – Gluzin – http://www.gluzin.com. We had switched over from zinc acetate, Galzin – because Gluzin is less irritable to the stomach and will not cause as much nausea and vomitting. My daugther takes the 25 mg Gluzin, because she has a harder time swallowing.
