Many people just dont understand the type of symptoms they are experiencing , and mistake the first signs for GERD or a Hiatal Hernia. Achalasia is a complicated disorder that is misunderstood by many in the medical field. As a Researcher i think that the most likely cause is a Parasite that is introduced into the immune system and causes a hormonal change that infects the Muscles of the Esophagus and the first symptoms start creeping into play soon afterwords. Things that people dont think come into play, such as Oral Sex with an infected partner, the Parasite Bacteria involved in certain diseases like Trichmanosis have been shown under a microscope to cause signifigant changes in the immune system and could play a role in the beginning stages of this disease. Certainly the promise of medical advancements such as POEM and a few others on the horizon will greatly aide in the treatment of this disease , but more needs to be done on the research side in my medical opinion.
