Squat with an exercise ball
You can perform squat using an exercise ball. Stand with the exercise ball between your lower spine and a wall and press slightly into the ball. Your hands should be at your sides or on hips, the feet should be hip width apart and slightly in front of you. Bend at your knees and hips and slowly moved into a sitting position. The knees should be over your ankles and you need to keep the ball in contact with your back while moving. Now, return to the standing position while keeping the ball in contact with your back while moving.
Push-ups with an exercise ball
To perform push-ups using the exercise ball, you will need to lie face down and the exercise ball should be underneath your belly. Keep the palms flat on the floor. Use your hands to walk out to a plank position. At this position, the ball should be anywhere from your hips to your ankles. This position should be challenging to do push-ups but your spine should be aligned with your shoulders, hips and ears.
Now you need to bend your elbows to lower your upper body to the floor. While doing so, keep your shoulders away from your ears and your abdominal muscles should be engaged.
Crunches with an exercise ball
Lie with your middle back on the exercise ball. The feet should be flat on the floor and should be shoulder width apart. Keep your hands behind your head. Now, lift your upper body up using your abdominal muscles. Do not use the neck to lift your upper body and do not pull with your hands. Do this 8 to 15 times.
Balance with an exercise ball
Sit on the exercise ball. Your hands needs to be on your hips. Now, lined on your spine as if a string is pulling the top of your head up. Plant your feet together on the ground. Lift 1 foot from the floor and hold it for 3 to 5 seconds. Now switch legs. Do this eight times for each leg.
These are just some of the examples of workouts that you can do using an exercise ball. It will save you from getting bored. You do not have two repeat the same workouts over and over. There are so many different exercises that you can perform using the ball which will target different muscle groups in your body. It is a great training tool for balancing.
