Toning Up: 3 Mistakes That Are Stopping You In Your Tracks

It would be fair to say that over the last few years the whole world has become a lot more “obsessed” with looking good, and feeling healthy.

Partly, this is because of pressure from the authorities. With health budgets always under strain, one of the easiest ways to relieve this is to educate people. Then, there is the media element to this, with beach bodies constantly being thrust in our faces in magazines and websites.

The knock-on effect of all of the above is that a lot of people are focussing their attention on toning. Once upon a time this may have just involved a breast augmentation and similar surgery, but now you can compliment this with other tactics. Today’s post will now take a look at some of the main mistakes that are made in this regard, so that you can tone your body efficiently.

Mistake #1 – You don’t change things up

If you have got to the stage where you are consistently working out, then a big congratulations is in order. After all, most people fail at the first hurdle and don’t get anywhere near this far.

Unfortunately, you might also be falling into one of the biggest traps of all. Over time, your body gets used to repeating the same exercises, and the effect of them actually wears off.

Instead, you need to change things up. Throw different exercises and routines into the mix, just so your body can get out of its comfort zone and ultimately tone up a lot more quickly.

Mistake #2 – You don’t consume enough protein

Firstly, some apologies are in order. After all, for the last few years the P-word has been on the tip of everyone’s tongue – and we are now seeing it become very prominent on food packaging.

However, there is a very good reason for the above. Like it or not, protein is the building block for muscle and if toning is on your agenda, you probably need more of this food type than you are currently getting. If you don’t tap into enough of it, your workouts won’t be yielding the results that they really deserve. Your muscles just won’t have the fuel they need to repair once they have been broken down.

There are all sorts of guidelines in relation to protein, so analyse how much you are currently getting and try and increase your consumption to match them.

Mistake #3 – It all falls apart with a lack of water

Another buzzword in the health and fitness industry has been hydration. Once again, it is for very good reason, and even if you stick to the perfect diet and exercise plan – everything can fall apart when it come to your hydration levels.

If you aren’t properly hydrated, you are more likely to suffer from fatigue and your workouts will be impacted. Not only that, but it can cause unnecessary cravings, which again wreak havoc with your toning plan.
