Back Pain Breakthroughs: Smart Steps to Avoid Your Morning Stiffness and Soreness

Waking up feeling like you have been put through your paces in a boxing ring rather than sleeping through the night, is not exactly a great way to start your day, and your day will surely start out on a wrong note when you wake up feeling stiff and sore.

One solution is to find a good mattress manufacturer who is able to offer you just the right level of support to give you a good night’s sleep. There are also some other strategies to try in order to avoid your morning stiffness.

A good sleeping position is important

When you consider that most of us are estimated to spend up to a third of our life sleeping, you can soon appreciate just how important it is to try and find a natural sleeping position that is right for you.

You might be one of those people who simply struggles to get comfortable at night, meaning you are going to be prone to experiencing back and neck pain when you wake up the next morning.

Your goal should be to adopt a sleeping position that is most conducive to maintaining the natural curvature of your spine.

Sleeping on your stomach can cause neck pain and you might also wake up with a headache if you go to sleep on your front, as it places pressure on your spine and puts it in an unnatural position.

Sleep on your side or back and use pillows to get the support you need in that position. A good mattress will also help you to get comfortable and hold a good position.

Time for a change?

On the subject of your mattress. If it is approaching its 10th birthday or beyond, then it is quite possible that your mattress is in need of replacing and could be contributing to your back pain problems.

If you find a mattress that could be classed as medium-firm rather than soft, this should help with your posture and help to combat any back problems you are experiencing.

Inflammation for the over 40’s

You can’t halt the aging process of course, and if you are over 40, there is a good chance that you might find it has become a bit more of a challenge and more uncomfortable to get out of bed in the morning.

You might just put this down to getting older and maybe even consider that you have a touch of arthritis, but that is a condition that normally affects us much later in life.

It could well be that you are experiencing a small amount of general inflammation. The risk of inflammaging, tends to increase if you are unfit, overweight, and over a certain age.

You can do something about the first two at least to improve how you feel first thing in the morning, but you clearly can’t help how old you are.

If you suffer from morning back pain, there are some things you can do to at least alleviate the pain, even if you can’t eliminate it completely, so check out your mattress and work on your , amongst other things.
